Nelson Park Riding Centre Ltd was started in 1987 from just six rather neglected stables and two horses.  Vast enthusiasm has built up the yard to what it is today.  The yard, which is owned, by Sarah Catterall B.H.S.A.I (INT SM) and who with Julia Packham and her staff supervises and run efficiently this premier yard in Thanet.  It is a friendly yard with competent staff that has the welfare of the horses and progress of clients and pupils foremost in their minds.  Both the British Horse Society and the Association of British Riding Schools have given it their seal of approval.  The yard also run NVQ courses and in conjunction with Canterbury College. Sarah and her staff also belong to the Register of Instructors and hold First Aid Certificates.

 
The Register of Instructors is monitored by the BHS to ensure the highest standards.
SARAH CATTERALL B.H.S. A.I (INT SM)               
Sarah started riding at the age of eight and had her own pony by the time she was thirteen.  She joined the local riding club, gained experience and bought a young horse on which she had lessons and regularly competed.  Sarah passed her B.H.S stages 1,2 and 3 at Norton Heath in 1983 and passed her BHS AI examination at Limes Farm Training Centre.  Sarah also studied for and passed her A.B.R.S. Assistant Grooms Certificated and the Grooms Diploma held at Patchets Equestrian Centre. Finally Sarah passed her Riding Club Stable Managers certificate and Stage IV Stable Management. Sarah also is has her  NVQ (D32, D33 & D34) and is an assessor for NPTC's, she also holds her BSL (British Sign Language stage 1).

JULIA PACKHAM, B.H.S. A.I    

I started riding at the age of 7.  I joined Thanet College and joined Nelson Park in 1997 when I obtained my NVQ Level 1 and BHS Stage 1.  In 1998 I achieved my NVQ Level 2, BHS Stage 2 and the Riding & Road Safety Test, in 1999 I passed my NVQ 3, PTT and BHS Stage 3.   I have also passed my First Aid course in 2001 and the Child Protection Qualification in 2003.  During this time I have also competed the First & National Diplomas.  I recently passed my NVQ assessors, manage the Nelson Park yard, and compete my own horse at Affiliated Dressage

EMMA DUNSTER-PRICE B.H.S. A.I    
I started riding at Nelson Park when I was 6 and have had my own horse since the age of 7.  I started competing locally at the age of 8.  I now compete regularly show jumping at affiliated level.  I completed my BHS Stages 1 & 2, Riding & Road Safety when I was 16.  In 2007 I qualified as a BHSAI, I achieved my A1 qualification and my BHS Stage 4.

Emma runs the office and events at Nelson Park, and competes her own horses at BSJA.

ZOE GRIFFITHS B.H.S. A.I    

I’ve been riding since I was 3 years old and owned horses since I was 8 I came to Nelson Park in 2002 as a student of Canterbury College. In 2002 I completed NVQ Level 1, in 2003 I passed my BHS Stage 1, 2004 I passed the Riding & Road Safety test and completed NVQ Level 2.  In 2005 I took and passed the BHS Stage 2 and PTT.  Zoe is now a qualified  BHSAI, helps run and manages the horses at Nelson Park and competes Foxwood horses BSJA.
