Nelson Park Riding Centre Ltd was started in 1987 from just six rather neglected stables and two horses. Vast enthusiasm has built up the yard to what it is today. The yard, which is owned, by Sarah Catterall B.H.S.A.I (INT SM) and who with Zoe Griffiths and her staff supervises and run efficiently this premier yard in Thanet. It is a friendly yard with competent staff that has the welfare of the horses and progress of clients and pupils foremost in their minds. Both the British Horse Society and the Association of British Riding Schools have given it their seal of approval. The yard also run NVQ courses and in conjunction with Canterbury College. Sarah and her staff also belong to the Register of Instructors and hold First Aid Certificates. |

| Sarah started riding at the age of eight and had her own pony by the time she was thirteen. She joined the local riding club, gained experience and bought a young horse on which she had lessons and regularly competed. Sarah passed her B.H.S stages 1,2 and 3 at Norton Heath in 1983 and passed her BHS AI examination at Limes Farm Training Centre. Sarah also studied for and passed her A.B.R.S. Assistant Grooms Certificated and the Grooms Diploma held at Patchets Equestrian Centre. Finally Sarah passed her Riding Club Stable Managers certificate and Stage IV Stable Management. Sarah also is has her NVQ (D32, D33 & D34) and is an assessor for NPTC's, she also holds her BSL (British Sign Language stage 1). Sarah now has her Diploma in Teaching Life Long Learning Subject DTTLS | Graham runs Nelson Park
along with Sarah Catterall he is responsible for the maintenance of the
centre, he is the one you will see if you are a school driving the lorry
and bringing along some of his friends to talk to the children, he is
responsible for the schedule designs and web design, anything technical
!, Graham is also responsible for the annual Open Day, and outdoor
promotions held across Thanet and the surrounding areas, you can contact Graham for school visits
either at your school or at our centre. Graham is first aid trained, and has completed his BHS Child protection qualification in 2008, BHS Riding & Road Safety and has his HGV Cat C Licence' - this is required if you wish to drive a purpose built horsebox that weighs more than 7.5t, loaded or unloaded. |

Julia started riding at the age of 7. She joined Thanet College and Nelson Park in 1997 when she obtained her NVQ Level 1 and BHS Stage 1. In 1998 she achieved her NVQ Level 2, BHS Stage 2 and the Riding & Road Safety Test, in 1999 she passed the NVQ 3, PTT and BHS Stage 3. She is a First Aider and has her Child Protection Qualification in 2003. During this time she has also competed the First & National Diplomas. Julia is an NVQ assessor, helps manage the Nelson Park yard, and competes her own horse at Affiliated Dressage. Julia also now has her Diploma in Teaching Life Long Learning Subject DTTLS |
Zoe has been riding since she was 3 years old and owned horses since she was 8, Zoe came to Nelson Park in 2002 as a student of Canterbury College. In 2002 she completed NVQ Level 1, in 2003 she passed her BHS Stage 1 in 2004 and passed the Riding & Road Safety Test and NVQ Level 2. In 2005 I took and passed the BHS Stage 2 and PTT. Zoe is now a qualified BHSAI, helps run and manages the horses at Nelson Park and competes Foxwood horses BSJA.

Katie has been at Nelson Park since 2004 and has progressed through her training both with the BHS examinations and the College courses, she has completed her BHS Child protection and is currently waiting to do her BHS PTT. |
Sophie started at Nelson Park in 2004 and studied with Canterbury College for her NVQ qualifications, whilst also studying for her BHS exams. |
